The kick-off for a busy month of fashion shows began this past week with the most famous display of fashion at New York Fashion Week! This post is full of LOOKS so get ready…
This week was sooo fashion-packed that there’s not enough space to dissect each show that was displayed. But, from all the shows I saw through live stream, each was dynamic in its own unique way. A few shows that stuck out to me because of their creativity was Tom Ford, Desigual, and Cushnie et Ochs.
Firstly, let me just say that I am COMPLETELY here for Tom Ford’s SS18 collection. The structure in these garments were overly amazing. There were numerous pieces in this collection that reminded me of my own style. Simple, with a pop of something. The detailing in the tailoring of the blazers looked so effortless but still made a mark! The other pieces in the collection continued to raise the bar for Tom Ford.
Desigual’s show was literally POPPIN’. The vibrant colors and prints were more than eye-catching and to top it off, they served intricate choreography based on the culture of which it was portraying. Of course this show featured couture outfits each with its own distinctive flare. With each garment that hit the runway, I fell more in love with the story that each outfit told as it strutted and danced down the runway.
So, if there had to be a winner of fashion week, in my book it’d be Cushnie et Ochs’ SS18 collection. This show literally encompassed everything that a woman is; elegant, powerful, and sophisticated. These designs were everything that I think about for spring and summer fashion. With the collection of florals, nudes, and pastels, this collection won the BenjaminCoy NYFW award. Simply, beautiful. (Please watch it, I’ll link to the end of this post!)
Because the collections were fashion forecasts for Spring and Summer 2018, a lot of the collections exhibited such styles that parallel normal trends of that season. So, a lot of florals, bright colors, and bright make-up. Within several collections, I did see a lot of modern takes on the normal trends through muted colors and minimalistic approaches as well as allusions to trends of previous decades. Although, I’m super excited for fall fashion to pop-up (stay tuned for a post on that ;)), I’m also anxious to give my take on these spring/summer ’18 trends.
Other than red carpets and the MET Gala, NYFW is another time for celebrities to STEP OUT and that’s exactly what they did. Here’s my favorite looks of who was there:
Next year, I’m definitely going to be apart of this “fashion-packed” week.
